Trumpet-creeper Campsis radicans
Family: Bignoniaceae (Bignonia)
Branching: Opposite
This is a vine native to the Eastern US, but frequently planted
as an ornamental in Canada. Its flowers make it very conspicuous in the summer, but
it doesn't stand out as much in the winter. It has distinctive
leaf scars, which are circular and often sunken (like Catalpa in the
same family) and it climbs by using aerial rootlets. Another native vine, Virginia Creeper, also has circular and sunken leaf scars, but its are opposite.
