Silky Dogwood Cornus amomum
Family: Cornaceae (Dogwood)
Branching: Opposite
Similar to Red-osier Dogwood or Roundleaf Dogwood, but its pith is brown and mature bark has
a striped appearance. Like Red-osier it is usually found in wet
places and has many stems.

The hairy coating rubs off very easily
The brownish/tan pith is the best feature to distinguish from Red-osier (whose pith is white)
Notice how the mature bark acquires a striped appearance.
