Rose-of-Sharon Hibiscus syriacus

This tall introduced multi-stemmed shrub is commonly planted in gardens, and occasionally is found in the wild. It's fruit pods, which are often found in the winter, are distinctive. Also, the buds often had two small "stipules" on either side of the bud, but they are not always seen.
