Austrian Pine Pinus nigra
Family: Pinaceae (Pine)
Branching: Evergreen needles
This is a commonly planted pine in cities, though it is rarely found
growing wild. It most resembles Red Pine, especially in the
appearance of its needles (however Austrian Pine needles do not break
cleanly in half, whereas Red Pine needles do). The bark is
mottled, like Red Pine, though it tends to lack the reddish hue and
often acquires the appearance of whitish vertical stripes.
